Simple Scones
Ingredients
- 2 Cups Flour
- 1 cup white flour, 1 cup whole wheat
- ⅓ Cup White Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- ¼ teaspoon Baking Soda
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- Dash of Seasoning
- Depends on type of scone (e.g., Pumpkin Pie Spice)
- 8 teaspoons Unsalted Butter
- ½ cup Mix-ins
- Dried fruit, chocolate chips, etc.
- ½ Cup Plain Greek Yogurt
- 1 Egg
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Put the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in the food processor and pulse it a few times to mix it all together.
- Add the butter and mix-in and pulse the mixture again until the butter is fine pieces.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and then add the Greek yogurt to the bowl.
- Add the Greek yogurt and egg to the food processor.
- Continue pulsing until the mixture is moist and starts to clump together (it should be a sticky consistency).
- If the mixture is too dry, add 1 teaspoon of Greek yogurt at a time and continue pulsing the mixture.
- Place the dough onto a flat surface and with your hands, flatten it out into ¾ inch thickness.
- Use the biscuit cutter to cut out circular scones and place them on a pan with parchment paper.
Bake 15 to 17 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes.
